Way to go Brian! Brian had a very solid go on Royalty at Midnight to garner a third place ribbon in the New England Three Gaited Show Pleasure Championship. We even behaved on the fair food- got to fit into our jods!

July 21, 2009: New England Morgan Horse Show
We loaded up for the trek to the 70th annual NEMHS under sunny skies but what would NEMHS be without-RAIN! Speakeasy and Kacie Bayreuther competed under a light mist to be named the Suitable Hunter Reserve Champion after winning the Suitable Hunter II. It was a full downpour by the time Talladega and Kacie took to the course. After a rough start they put it all together to win the Low Hunter Stake-we show up for the money!- and the Low Working Hunter Under Saddle. Great job Kacie!
July 17-19, 2009: Maine Saddlebred SHow
Congratulations to Brian Fitzsimmons and Royalty at Midnight on a triumphant return to the show ring. Brian & Shed were named Adult Show Pleasure Reserve Champion after winning the Show Pleasure qualifier.
July 12, 2009: THE PINES HORSE SHOW
We headed to The Pines - albeit a little sleep deprived! Kris Pollock and Decked For The Hunt got good ribbons in the Adult Pleasure Division while Gracie Hopwood and Speakeasy garnered a blue ribbon in the leadline class. "Clyde" was so impressed he even tried to bow. Kerri Fortier and Decked For The Hunt made their hunter show debut in the modified hunter division to great ribbons- 2nd in the stake! Way to go guys!

Callaway's Fantasia presented us with a HUGE chestnut filly at 1:15 am. Her attitude is as big as her legs! So much for sleep before the Pines.

July 7, 2009: Killingworth Chamber of Commerce Social
KEC hosted a social for Chamber members on July 7, 2009. Chamber members were treated to a tour of the facility and a variety of demonstrations throughout the night. Kacie Bayreuther and Talladega and Jessica DeConto and Speakeasy took to the hunt course to demonstrate working hunters, Meghan Flynn & Gabriel performed a dressage demo while dressage instructor Stacey Hathaway narrated. Brian and Royalty at Midnight represented the American Saddlebred as a Show Pleasure Driving horse and highlighted the versatility of KEC. Rounding out the demos was The Little Mermaid and her 2009 colt-Limerick's Extra Fabulous and a very pregnant Callaways Fantasia!

RAIN, MUD & MORE MUD! We persevered and Madison Beebe got good ribbons on Sugar Bear in both the Walk Trot Equitation and Pleasure divisions. Kris Pollock and Decked For the Hunt had a stellar day winning the Adult Pleasure and the Quarter Horse Hunter Under Saddle and Quarter Horse Hunter Under Saddle Championship! Way to go guys!

3-39-09 : Westbrook Reindeer Show
Rain, Rain, Go Away! The weather didn't deter us from attending the last Reindeer Show on March 29th at the Westbrook Hunt Club. It was Jada Goodwin's & Steele's Extreme Sport aka Jack first horse show but they did great bringing home two ribbons in the walk & trot division.
Gracie Hopwood & Speakeasy-known to all as Clyde-earned a first and two seconds on their way to the leadline reserve championship . Gracie & Clyde also were named the Reindeer Series Reserve Champion for the leadline division.
Madison Beebe & Sugar Bear brought home the walk & trot reserve championship for the day after taking top ribbons in all of her classes.

Boy do we clean up well! The Avon Old Farms Inn was the site of the 2008 Connecticut Morgan Horse Association Annual Awards Banquet on March 14, 2009.

Honored from KEC were Speakeasy and Talladega- the Working Hunter Champion & Reserve respectively. Kacie Bayreuther was the Outside Equitation Champion while Gracie Hopwood garnered reserve and was also recognized for her participation in the leadline division. You guys made us proud!
Brian and Johnna made their time at the Tattersalls sale in Lexington, Kentucky well worth the trip, coming home with two new broodmares. The Little Mermaid, aka Ariel, is a three year old Saddlebred mare in foal to Joe Fabulous for an April foal. Callaway's Fantasia or Fanny is an eight year old Saddlebred mare. Her foal by Callaway's Cranston is due in August.
American Saddlehorse Association of Connecticut Banquet:
It was another successful season for the KEC Saddlebreds! Limerick's Tornado Royalty (Harry) was named champion ASB In Hand - Hopefully his first of many.
For the second consecutive year, Royalty at Midnight was named champion of the Adult Show Pleasure Division. "Shed" was recognized by the American Saddle Horse Association as state champion.
Equine Affaire:
The ASHS had a presence at this year's Equine Affaire in West Springfield, Mass. Brian and Shed were invited to represent the ASB Show pleasure driving division. The Saddlebred contingent braved the rain and the confines of the small ring in the Mallory Arena to wow the crowds. The presentation was a resounding success.
Connecticut Morgan Horse Show
KEC trainer/manager, Johnna Chenail has been named manager of the 2009 Connecticut Morgan Horse Show held June 3-6, 2009 at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds in West Springfield, Mass. The new show committee has made sweeping changes to the time schedule and social events held during the show. The sport horse divisions have been expanded with an emphasis being placed on the Morgan's versatility.
